PROCEEDINGS:
The following schemes are in existence in Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd. for reimbursement of medical expenses:-
a) Claims made by the employees to the treatment taken in the Government Hospitals.
b) Claims made under Medical Attendance Rules.
c) New Health Insurance Scheme, 2012 to provide health care assistance to the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd. and Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Limited employees and their eligible family members.
d) Reimbursement under Workmen Compensation Act.
2. In respect of Workmen Compensation Act reimbursement of expenditure is being made to workers who met with an accident on duty. Since this is not applicable to the officers, the reimbursement is being made under Medical Attendance Rules as per Government rates.

3. As far as the accident is concerned, immediate and urgent treatment is required in order to safeguard the life of the employees/officers. In case of Emergency conditions the employees/officers will not in a position to approach the accredited hospital to take treatment by utilizing the New Health Insurance Scheme Card.
4. In view of the above, it is considered necessary that the entire cost of the medical treatment incurred by the employees/officers of Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd. and TANTRANSCO be borne by the Corporation without any reduction who suffers injuries due to accidents in the following manner:-
I. While performing duty.
II.. While travelling from his residence to office to perform the duty
III. While returning from office to his residence after performing his
duty,
5. In case of emergency the employees can take treatment at any hospital whether it is accredited or not.
6. After careful consideration, it is hereby ordered that in case of accident to the employees/officers of the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd. and Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation suffer injury due to accident while performing his duties or while travelling from his residence to office to perform the duty or while returning from office to his residence after performing his duty, the entire cost of medical treatment incurred by the employees/officers of TANGEDCO and TANTRANSCO be reimbursed by the Corporation without any reduction.
7. It is also ordered that employees can take treatment in any of the hospital in case of any accident occurred while on duty as mentioned in para 6 whether it is accredited or not. The above orders shall come into effect from the date of issue of orders. However, the pending accidental cases for reimbursement if any may also be considered.
8. The receipt of the TANGEDCO Proceedings shall be acknowledged.
